Annual Report of the Bengal Veterinary College 1931-32.

                            Preface and General Administration.

Charge.—Mr. A. D. MacGregor, i.v.s., held charge of the office of
the Principal, Bengal Veterinary College, the Raymond Research
Laboratory and was Controlling Officer of the Department of Epizootic
Diseases of Animals in Calcutta and its suburbs throughout the year.

2.     I, after being relieved of my duties as Director, Civil Veterinary
Department, was granted leave from 27th October 1931 to 13th March
1932, and resumed charge of Vice-Principalship on 14th March 1932,
and remained in charge of that post till end of the year. During my
absence in the Civil Veterinary Department and on leave, no officer was
appointed in my place.

3.     Mr. MacGregor having proceeded on leave out of India on 9th
April 1932, the task of submitting this report has devolved on me as
acting Principal in addition to my own duties.

                                    Veterinary Instruction.

4.     Students.—During the last few years, a great demand was made
for admission into this College from the Provinces of India and outside
including Feudatory States, as will be seen from the figures given
below.

5.     At the beginning of the session, i.e., in July 1931, 187 students
were on the rolls, 169 prolonged their studies throughout the session
(against 141 of last year), 18 having left for financial difficulties or
other reasons. Ninety-eight were selected in Class A as freshmen; of
whom 10 did not join on the opening of the College. The entrants came
from various countries and provinces. I am glad to be able to report
that the numbers of Bengal students are satisfactory as given below.
