4. During the year, we added the following new crops:—

(o) Impi grass.

(p) Johnson grass.

(q) African grass.

(r) Napier grass.

(s) Rye grass.

(t) Sudan grass.

(u) Raina Luxuriana.

5.     All Government animals and hospital patients were fed on these
crops during the seasons of their being available for feeding and were
distributed, morning and evening, in addition to their concentrated
ration. The surplus quantities were sold to the outside public.

6.     The total production of all varieties of crops were 9,271
maunds 14 seers, of which 8,755 maunds and 8 seers were supplied
to the hospital and 516 maunds sold to the outside public.

7.     The sale proceeds of the year under report of the inside supply
amounted to Rs. 8,284-7-3 and the value of outside supply to
Rs. 958-10. (Details enclosed—Appendix A.)

8.     Due to untimely rain and improper drainage, a few of the
winter crops could not be sown in time, and therefore, the outside
sales were seriously affected, the result being the production was
chiefly utilised to the hospital.

9.     Hay was prepared from the following crops and given to
hospital patients:—Oats, barley, wheat, lucerne and dub grass.

10.     Lectures were given by the Manager to final year students
on practical agriculture and fodder crop growing.

11.     Horticulture.—A small nursery is maintained here for medi-
cinal and poisonous plants. Specimens were supplied for classes and
practical demonstrations in the garden were given to the students.
The sale proceeds of flowers amounted to Rs. 30.

12.     Breeding Operations.—During this year, we had 13 stud bulls.
They served 484 cows. He-goats and sheep are also maintained here
for breeding purposes. The he-goats served 183 females. Income
from bull-breeding amounted to Rs. 883 and from goat-breeding
Rs. 46.
