20. The year under review was somewhat healthier than the year preced-
ing, and from the above table it will be seen that the total admissions into
hospital in the Nagpur Asylum was 126, or 68 less than in 1894 ; at Jubbulpore
it was 103 against 122, or 19 less as compared with 1894.

At Nagpur there were only 38 cases of influenza against 108 in the
preceding year; and at Jubbulpore one against 25

The chief cause of sickness in 1895 at both the Asylums was, as usual,
malarial fever. There were 36 cases admitted under this head at Nagpur
against 37 in the preceding year. At Jubbulpore 55 patients were admitted
on account of malarial fevers against 52, or 3 more compared with 1894.
Cases of dysentery, bronchitis and pneumonia were also in excess of the previous
year's figures at this Asylum.

21. Cholera fortunately did not appear in either Asylum.

22.    The daily average sick at Nagpur was 8.84 against 10.61, or 1.77 less
than in 1894; and at Jubbulpore it was 4.46 against 5.28.

23.    The following table gives the ratio of deaths to daily average strength,
and of the deaths to admissions :—
