enceinte, but that he has no doubt about her character. Is improving mentally
and physically, and I dare say that some more information will gradually be got
from him.

(9) Mussammat Bhury, charged under section 302, I. P. C.—Murder. The
history states that she was always of a happy disposition, until the day of her
return from worshipping with other women in a temple. On her return, she went
into the upper room of her house and remained there three days and nights without
food. On the fourth morning, she came down and noticed her little nephew, aged 2
years, crawling on the ground; she picked him up and fondled him and suddenly,
without apparent cause, dashed him to the ground. She picked the child up, and
seeing that it was dead, she laid it on the ground some distance from the house
and then went into her room and laughed and sang until the arrival of the parents.
She confessed having killed the child.

There is a motive; it appears that a day or two before, her sister threw as-
persions on her character. She is married, but has not lived with her husband.
On admission to the Asylum, she was very violent, threw her clothes away and
danced about naked, smeared herself over with filth and refused food. Is still
very indecent and talks filthy language.
