STATEMENT No. VIII.
Finance.

11. The total amount spent for the upkeep of the Mental
Hospital was Rs. 1,13,140-11-7 against
Rs. 1,06,774-3-1 last year. Out of this
Rs. 6,941-12-6 were spent by the Public
Works Department on annual repairs and additions and
alterations to the existing buildings. Excluding this amount
and other book adjustments the expenditure was
Rs. 1,05,679-9-1 against Rs. 1,03,155-3-10 last year. The
increase is due to the additional supply of articles of food neces-
sitated by the increased number of admissions and purchase
of more vegetables and grass than that in the last year owing
to the failure of the garden produce and farm (grass reserve
area). Receipts from paying patients amounted to
Rs. 11,555-0-4 against Rs. 9,369-3-8 and the receipts from
other sources Rs. 2,464-15-3 against Rs. 5,233-14-6. The
average cost of diet and clothing of a lunatic was Rs. 101
against Rs. 101 last year.
