Dura mater showed signs of former imflammation. Great
sub-arachnoid effusion. Brain generally soft. Pericar-
dium distended by serum.
Right lung contained tubercular masses.
Left lung hepatised: Pleurae inflamed. The whole of
the apex was riddled by tubercles : empyema present on
left side.

Was attacked with cholera at 8 A.M. on the 8th Septem-
ber, and death occurred at 1-30 A.M. on 9th. As he had
requested that his body should be handed over to his
friends, no post mortem examination was made.

Close to the cœcum the bowel was dark purple in colour
and deeply congested in all its coats. The mucous
membrane of the colon throughout was congested, and
in many places ulcerated.

From April till July, when he died, had frequent attacks
of fever. On the 12th July in an accession he suddenly
became comatose and died. Slight sub-arachnoid effu-
sion was found. The spleen was much enlarged. The
right side of the heart was full of fibrinous clots. Liver
of a bright yellow colour.

he died it is stated that "he has been long in hospital
with anæmia and debility."
Ileum much congested throughout. The jejunum was
healthy, so was the mucous membrane of the whole
large intestines.

This man was in wretched health on admission. He was
a patient in hospital almost the whole time he was in
the asylum. He had dysentery, phthisis, and great
anæmia. The immediate cause of death was apoplexy.
At the base of the brain a clot weighing 5 oz. was found.
Lungs full of tubercular deposit. Large intestines
ulcerated throughout.

Two months after admission he is described as in hos-
pital " very feeble and weak."
In the beginning of August he was attached with dysen-
tery and he died on the 1st September. The mucous
membrane of the whole of the large intestines was
ulcerated.
