Was attacked with pneumonia. On the 30th August she
recovered, but was left very weak. At the beginning
of the cold season a second attack occurred, which ter-
minated fatally.
The right lung was congested and œdematous; the left
at base was gorged with blood : she died of exhaustion.

This man was in the last stage of mental disease on ad-
mission. He never spoke, and never showed a trace of
intelligence, except when his dinner was placed beside
him. He would wear no clothes, and he was quite
unconscious of being cold. He, however, ate greedily.
On the 2nd December he was found to have dysentery,
and was admitted into hospital. On the morning of
the 3rd, he drank a cup of hot milk and then laid down,
and died. Numerous small tubercular cavities were
present in right lung ; none in left : large decolorized
clots were found in right side of heart. The mucous
membrane of the colon was slightly congested.

This man was a confirmed epileptic. In January 1872 he
had two fits ; the latter one left him hemiptegic. By
April he recovered the use of the limbs. On the morn-
ing of the 9th December he had a fit which produced
deep insensibility. Within twelve hours he had between
30 and 40 fits, and, in the last he died.
Beneath dura-mater, and over right cerebrum, an enor-
mous clot of blood rested. On the top of left hemis-
phere there was a patch of yellow softening, the size of
an eight anna piece. In both lungs the pulmonary
tissue was puckered, as if abscesses had healed. Tu-
bercular deposits were found at these spots.

On the day of his arrival he was sent to hospital with
fever. He was in a hopeless state of dementia, refus-
ing to wear clothes, and passing the whole day howl-
ing, singing, or crying. He gradually and steadily
wasted away from the date of his admission. Great
sub-arachnoid effusion. Right pleura inflamed, and left
lung congested. The mucous membrane of the duo-
denum was clotted over with innumerable superficial
ulcers, having their origin in the glandular structures.
The spleen was atrophied.
