There was an increase in the number of vaccinations performed with the
calf lymph issued during 1922-23 (returns for which have been received
up to date) as compared with that performed in 1921-22, but a decrease as
compared with the figures for the years 1914-15 to 1920-21.

Owing to the collapsible tubes ordered for the vaccination season not
having arrived in time, the existing stock was entirely exhausted and 100
gross of tubes had to be borrowed from the lymph dépôts in the Punjab
and Behar and Orissa. Even this did not meet requirements with the
result that the issue of lymph had to be stopped for about 10 days. The
supply from home which ought to have been delivered in August was
received in February when the vaccination work was nearly over. The
delay was due to the supply having to be ordered through the Stores
department instead of direct from the makers.

The cold storage plant worked very satisfactorily during the year under
report. Last year's stock of 101,072.8 grammes of glycerinated lymph and
228 grammes of glycerine paste was issued during the year with excellent
results. 137,230.3 grammes of the former and 345.0 grammes of the
latter have therefore been manufactured and set aside for issue next year.
