            CHOLERA.

Ajmor-Merwara.

11. There were no cases of Cholera
reported in Ajmer-Merwara during the
year under report.

Native States.

12.  During the year only 747 cases of Cholera were reported from the

Native States of Rajputana of which 403
proved fatal against 1,230 cases and 737
deaths in the previous year.

13.  Cholera broke out in Kotah on 9th May at Sangode, being imported
by a resident who had visited Ujjain while Cholera was epidemic there. Two
hundred and ninety-eight cases and 169 deaths were reported up to 27th June
in the State, when it totally ceased. Eighty-five cases and 59 deaths occurred
in Kotah City from 20th May to 14th June.

14.  Dungarpur City was infected by a party of gold-smiths returning
from a local fair; 234 cases occurred of which 86 proved fatal from 7th May
to 28th June, when the epidemic ceased.

15.  The usual measures for its control and eradication were taken.

16.  As the Cholera outbreak in Rajputana was comparatively slight, no
map has been attached to the report.

                                    SANITATION.

17.  Ajmer.—Both the Foy Sagar and the Anasagar filled during the
rainy season and contain a sufficient water supply for the city and suburbs
as well as for the railway workshops.

18.  The Commissioner, Ajmer-Merwara, reports that the scheme for the
improvement of the water supply in the City of Ajmer was submitted in 1908
to the Government of India who have, before passing final orders, asked for
