of the office of the Residency Surgeon, Western Rajputana States, Jodh-
pur, in addition to his own, from 26th October 1911 when Major J. W. Grant,
I.M.S., was on deputation with the brother of His Highness the Maharajah of
Jodhpur to Egypt.

111. Major J. Fisher, D.S.O., I.M.S., Residency Surgeon, Jaipur, held the
general Medical and Sanitary charge of the Rajputana Camps at Delhi in con-
nection with the Coronation Durbar from the 2nd October 1911.

Additional charge.

112.  The Civil Surgeon, Ajmer, holds collateral charge of the 44th Merwara
Infantry, the Agency Surgeon, Haraoti and Tonk, is similarly in additional
charge of the 42nd Deoli Regiment, the
Agency Surgeon, Kherwara, is in Medical
charge of the Dungarpur State and the Medical Officer, 43rd Erinpura
Regiment, inspects the Sheoganj Dispensary adjacent to the Cantonment of
Erinpura.

113.  Mr. D. G. Newland, L.R.C.P. & S., Edinburgh, was on plague duty at
Abu Road throughout the year.

114.  Military Assistant Surgeon.—Assistant Surgeon R. J. K. Stone,
I.S.M.D., was in charge of the Northern India Salt Revenue Dispensary at
Sambhar throughout the year.

115.   Civil Assistant Surgeons.—There were 5 Government Assistant
Surgeons employed in Rajputana as in the previous year.

116.  Military Sub-Assistant Surgeons.—There were 10 Military Sub-
Assistant Surgeons employed with the Imperial Service Corps in Rajputana as
in 1910.

117.  In the two Jodhpur Imperial Service Regiments medical arrangements
are made by the State.

118.  The Mewar Imperial Service Squadron was put in medical charge of
the Sub-Assistant Surgeon attached to the Central Jail Hospital, Udaipur, for
such period as the Squadron is stationed in the lines near the Jail.

Civil Sub-Assistant Surgeons.

119. On the 31st December 1911, there were 184 Government Sub-Assist-
ant Surgeons on the rolls against the sanctioned strength of 193, there being

9 vacancies, 8 on the Native States Reserve
List and 1 on the Government Reserve
List. There is only one local class Native Doctor and 1 locally entertained
Sub-Assistant Surgeon under this Department as in the previous year.

120. Lady Doctors.—During the year there were 5 Lady Doctors employed
in the following States in Rajputana against 6 in 1910 :—

121.  There was no Lady Doctor in the Jaswant Hospital for women at
Jodhpur from 12th September 1911 to the 17th December 1911; in the Lady
Dufferin Hospital, Alwar, since April 1911 and in the Walter Zenana Hospital
at Udaipur since February 1911. An additional Lady Doctor was appointed to
assist Miss Newton, L.R.C.P. & S., at the Victoria Hospital at Kotah from the
16th June 1911.

122.  Female Sub-Assistant Surgeons.—There were 11 Female Sub-Assistant
Surgeons attached to the Female Hospitals and women's wards at the following
institutions as in the previous year :—
