                  Review on the Ajmer Jail Report for 1912.

The charge of the office of the Superintendent, Central Jail was held by
the following officers during the year under report.

Lieutenant-Colonel H. R. Woolbert, I.M.S., from the beginning of the
year to the 28th March 1912; Lieutenant-Colonel W. H. B. Robinson, I.M.S.,
from the 29th March to 6th November 1912, and Lieutenant-Colonel R. C.
MacWatt, I.M.S., for the rest of the year.

2. Population.—At the commencement of the year there were 292
prisoners, including convicts and under-
trials. The number of prisoners admitted
to the Jail during the year was 1,266
against 1,295 in 1911 of whom 662 were
convicts, 592 under-trials and 12 civil prisoners. The number of prisoners
discharged during the year under review from all causes as compared with the
previous year is as under :—
