177.  58 major and 559 minor operations were done against 13 major and
323 minor operations in 1919.

178.  Alwar.—Female Sub-Assistant Surgeon Bala Bai was in charge of
the Lady Dufferin's Hospital, Alwar, up to 27th May 1920. She died on
28th May. Since then Female Sub-Assistant Surgeon Sugna Bai has been
working in her place as Superintendent of the institution. 218 in and 20,482
out-door patients attended the Hospital as compared with 276 in and 19,050
out-door patients in the previous year. 95 major and 1,057 minor operations
were done against 84 major and 1,148 minor operations in 1919.

179.  520 Purdah Ladies were visited free at their homes and 34 obstetric
operations were performed in 1920.

180.  The hospital is well equipped and has got accommodation and
Surgical instruments sufficient to meet requirements.

181.  Bharatpur.—The Female Dispensary at Bharatpur remained without
a Female Sub-Assistant Surgeon throughout the year. The work of the
dispensary was carried on by one of the Male Sub-Assistant Surgeons attached
to the Victoria Hospital there.

182.  323 in and 4,776 out-door patients were treated as compared with
285 in and 4,836 out-door patients in the previous year. 81 operations were
performed in this Hospital in 1920.

183.  The scheme for improving the condition of child birth in Bharatpur
proved very successful and continued in operation throughout the year.

184.  Kishangarh.—Female Sub-Assistant Surgeon Mrs. L. A. Scott has
been in charge of the Female Hospital, Kishengarh, throughout the year. 11
in and 4,646 new out-door patients attended the Hospital against 28 in and
4,232 new out-door patients in 1919.

185.  Trained local dais attached to the Hospital were often called by the
Public for labour cases while Lady Sub-Assistant Surgeon was sent for
to attend abnormal cases.

186.   Dai Class, Ajmer.—Mrs. Conolly has been in charge of the Maternity
Home, Ajmer, throughout the year under the supervision of the Lady
Doctors of the Women's Mission Hospital, Ajmer. Seven pupils who were
admitted into the Dai Training Class on the 1st August 1919 worked
till the end of the session when they were examined by the Civil Surgeon,
Ajmer, on the 10th May and 21st June 1920 respectively. 5 of them passed
and were granted certificates, and the usual honorarium.

187.  7 pupils were admitted into the current year's class, of whom
3 came from Jaipur, 3 from Alwar and 1 from Jodhpur. 2 pupils, Gulab Bai
of Alwar and Gendi Bai of Bharatpur, who successfully passed their final
examination in May 1920, were re-admitted for the second year's course
in August 1920.

188.  The Dais under training, while in the Maternity Home have seen 5
cases in the Home, and 22 in the city. While living at the Mission Female
Hospital they have seen 32 cases in the hospital and 33 cases in the city. Of
these they have conducted under supervision 29 cases.

189.  There have been no local Dai classes in the Indian States of
Rajputana during the year under report.

                              Imperial Service Troops.

190. The hospitals of the Indian States Imperial Service Troops are all
well equipped. With the exception of those of the two Regiments of Imperial
Service Lancers at Jodhpur they are under the medical charge of well
qualified Military Sub-Assistant Surgeons and Raj Service Sub-Assistant
Surgeons. Each regiment of the latter is under the medical charge of a
State-enlisted Assistant Surgeon. The Mewar Imperial Service Squadron
at Udaipur has been under the medical charge of the Raj Service Sub-
Assistant Surgeon.
