The returns of the year just terminated exhibit a large increase in the number of vacci-
nations. This is mainly due to the zeal and attention of the station vaccinator, whose
conduct in the discharge of his duties has always merited the highest approval. In the
beginning of November last his sphere of action was considerably enlarged by the extension
of Municipal limits, consequent on the taking over of the large bazaars of the camp, from
the Military authorities, and the doing away of the appointment of camp vaccinator.

It will be seen by the returns, that, comparatively, only a small number of Hindoos has been
vaccinated, and it is to be regretted that much opposition continues to be experienced from
this section of the population, in our endeavours to propagate vaccination, notwithstanding
the aid and assistance we have always received in this matter from the magisterial autho-
rities. The migratory population, such as Bruhooes and Mekranees, appear to have the
highest opinion of its efficacy, and have throughout the year attended voluntarily at the Civil
Hospital to be vaccinated, latterly in large numbers, since small-pox has been prevalent.
This disease made its appearance about two months ago, and has been slightly epidemic
ever since.
