Cause of Increase.

In submitting the Report for the year 1869-70, it is with much pleasure that I
am able to show a satisfactory increase in the
number of vaccinations, as compared with the year
1868. From the above table it will be seen that there is an increase in every estab-
lishment, amounting in the aggregate to 8,145. But for comparison, from this must
be deducted the number vaccinated by the three Local Fund Vaccinators, who were
appointed during the year, leaving an actual increase by the same number of Vacci-
nators as there were last year of 6,243. I attribute this—1st, to the continuous active
supervision throughout the year; 2nd, to the in-
creased pay of the Vaccinators; 3rd, to the distribu-
