NOTE:—In those cases which are marked? the prisoners say that they have had small-pox.
but the marks that they show are not distinctive. Total number of cases 62: of these 21
were successful or 34 per cent. of these 11 were " good " and 10 " fair " : 41 cases were un-
successful 22 of these being " doubtful" and in 19 there was nothing more to be seen than the
mark of the lancet: of the secondary vaccinations 41 in number 6 were "doubtful " and 35 un
successful.
