VACCINATION REPORT FOR THE YEAR 1889-90.

Vaccination Report.

The Government of India, in Resolution, Home Department (Public),
No. 28—1579—95, dated 15th July 1887, embodied
in Bombay Government Resolution in the General
Department No. 2426, dated 17th August 1887, in paragraph 5, ruled that the
report on vaccination should be submitted in full every third year from
1887 onwards, and Government Resolution in the General Department,
No. 4357, dated 19th October 1889, directed that the annual Vaccination
Report should be separately submitted. In accordance with these instructions
the report on vaccination for the year 1889-90 is prepared in full and sub-
mitted separately.

Changes amongst the
Supervising Officers.

2. The changes amongst the supervising offi-
cers during 1889-90 (1st April 1889 to 31st March
1890) were as follow :—

(a) In the Western Gujarát Circle, Surgeon W. H. Quicke was acting
Superintendent of Vaccination from the beginning of the year till the
5th of May 1889, when Government abolished the appointment and
Dr. M. B. Colah was placed in charge of the Superintendent of Vac-
cination's office, in addition to his own duties of Deputy Sanitary Com-
missioner, Eastern Gujarát Registration District, from 6th May 1889
(vide Government Resolution No. 1634, dated 27th April 1839).

(b) In the Sind Registration District, Surgeon-Major G. Bainbridge, the
Civil Surgeon of Karáchi, was in charge of the office of the Deputy
Sanitary Commissioner during the absence of Surgeon J. C. H. Pea-
cocke on privilege leave from 13th July to 29th September 1889
inclusive.

4. The appointment of Superintendent of Vaccination, Western Gujarát Circle,

remains vacant. One additional Inspector of Sanitation
and Vaccination was entertained by the Baroda State.
Three vaccination kárkúns, who are included in the
above table, were entertained by the Karáchi Muni-
cipality as a temporary measure to assist during an outbreak of small-pox. Two
municipal vaccinators, one for Bándra in Thána and one in Bijápur town, were
entertained. In Local Fund Establishments there is an increase of 4 vaccinators,
