Abolition of two places of
Municipal vaccinators.

5. By Government Resolutions in the General Department, Nos. 1951 and
2845, dated 9th April and 25th May 1897 respectively,
two appointments of Municipal vaccinatorships, namely,
of Dholka Town in the Ahmedabad Collectorate and
Dhulia Town in the Khándesh Collectorate, were abolished and their work was
transferred to Local Fund Vaccinators.

6. The total strength of the Vaccination Depart-
ment during the year 1897-98, excluding Native States,

It will be seen from the foregoing table that there were 681,839 persons
primarily vaccinated and 62,811 re vaccinated, against 736,511 and 74,212
respectively last year, showing a net decrease of 54,672 or 7.42 per cent. in
primary vaccination and 11,401 or 15.36 per cent. in revaccination. In total
operations there is a decrease of 66,073 or 8.87 per cent.

Reasons of decrease.

8. During the year under report there was a considerable decrease in all
the registration districts except in the Presidency
Circle, where a slight increase under primary vacci-
nation was recorded. In Aden, Maskat and Bushire, as well as in the British
