From this it will be seen that of the total estimated births 29.72 per cent.
died under one year of age, 53.09 were vaccinated successfully, and that but 17.19
per cent. remain unprotected.

Map and statement.

8. A map and statement showing the work performed by the vaccina-
tion establishment in each town and circle are
attached.

The work performed by each vaccinator both in number and quality varied
considerably. The largest number of operations, viz., 3,005, and the highest
rate of success, viz., 99.4, were attained by head vaccinator Salsing and 2nd
class vaccinator Ahmed Hoosain, respectively.

The smallest number of operations, viz., 997, and the lowest rate of success,
viz., 80.8, appear against 3rd class vaccinator Vitul Ramchunder and 1st class
vaccinator Mahomed Khan, respectively.

Those vaccinators who have not worked satisfactorily have been punished.

The out-turn of work as recorded in each circle varies considerably.
For instance, in the Jowala circle, 173.6 per 1,000 of population was protected,
while in the Kingaum circle the rate reached 4.9 only. In the town of Barsi
Takli and the circles of Sailoo and Adgaon no vaccination work was performed.
The vaccinator of the Adgaon circle, Vitul Ramchunder, was punished for
laziness during the year under report.

Compared with a similar table in last year's report, the figures show that
more inspection was done by superintendents.

Of the total vaccinated 61.5 per cent. were verified, as against 51 in the
previous year, and work was inspected in 2,825 villages, as against 2,268.

The daily average number of miles travelled by superintendents was 8.1, as
compared with 6.1 last season.

The best work was done by the Ellichpur Superintendent, Mr. Ajaj Hoosain,
and next by the Amraoti Superintendent, Mr. Moorad Ally.

In the Buldana and Basim Districts there has been a falling-off both in the
percentage of work verified and in the number of villages visited. In the case
of the Basim Superintendent, Mr. Moorad Khan, physical incapacity was the
cause. This Superintendent's pension papers have gone in. The Buldana
