To
J. A. CRAWFORD, ESQ., I.C.S.,
COMMISSIONER, HYDERABAD ASSIGNED DISTRICTS,
Amraoti.
Dated Amraoti, the 10th May 1901.
SIR,
Submission of Annual Vaccination
statements.
I have the honour to submit the Annual
Vaccination Statements, with notes thereon, for
the year 1900-01.
Strength of Department.
2. The establishment worked up to its sanc-
tioned strength, except one vaccinator in the
Buldana district, who died while on cholera duty.
Manufacture of lanolinated lymph.
3. From 1st April to the end of November lanolinated calf-lymph was
manufactured at Amraoti, as owing to famine
calves in sufficient numbers were not available to
raise fresh calf-lymph. From December to the end of the official year fresh
calf-lymph was used.
Season's work.
4. The total number of operations performed amounted to 107,788 during
the year under report as against 175,901 in the
previous year, showing a decrease of 68,113.
The figures for three years are given below for each district:—

Primary operations.
5. The number of primary operations decreased from 120,772 to 74,704.
The percentage of success in primary vaccination was
96.6 as against 95.8 in the previous year. It ranged
from 93.6 in Wun to 98.1 in the Amraoti district. The cause of the low percent-
age of success in the Wun district was due to careless and bad work done by a
vaccinator at Wun, who has been reduced to a lower grade.
