17,990 children were vaccinated with animal lymph and 4,612 with human
lymph.

The total operations performed in this district were 22,604, of which 891
were performed by Civil Hospital Assistants.

The Civil Surgeon was on tour for more than a month, and inspected 3,437
children and found 3,145 successfully vaccinated.

The Native Superintendent inspected 11,670 children in 520 villages, and
found 10,877 successful.

Raipur.—In this district lymph was kept up by the municipal vaccinators
of the Raipur town and sorrounding villages during the non-working season.

1,548 calves were inoculated during the working season, the lymph obtained
from them being used by the vaccinators.

27,332 children were vaccinated with animal lymph, of these 26,790 proved
successful.

64,686 total operations were performed by vaccinators of the Khalsa and
Feudatory States, and 1,719 by Hospital Assistants.

The Civil Surgeon does not speak well of the vaccination staff. Some of
them were dismissed and others were fined.

The Civil Surgeon was out on tour for more than a month, both in the Khalsa
and Feudatory States, and inspected 3,433 operations, of which 3,290 were
successful.

There are four Native Superintendents attached to the district. They inspected
49,295 children and found 47,336 successfully vaccinated.

Bilaspur.—A supply of lymph was kept up during the non-working season.
Early in October lanoline paste was prepared and distributed to vaccinators.

1,120 calves were inoculated to keep up the supply of lymph throughout the
working season. On all the occasions lanoline lymph was used shortly after
preparation, within seven days. The Civil Surgeon says that the results were
highly satisfactory.

34,259 persons were vaccinated with animal lymph in this district, of which
30,840 proved successful.

The total number of operations performed in the district including those done
in the Feudatory States was 53,431, of which 1,169 were performed by Hospital
Assistants.

The Civil Surgeon inspected 4,470 cases and found only 68 per cent.
successfully vaccinated.

There are three Native Superintendents in this district. They inspected
27,834 children and found nearly 80 per cent. successful.

Sambalpur.—688 buffalo calves were inoculated to secure lymph during
the working season.

The Civil Surgeon reports that great difficulty was experienced in getting
calves in the Sadar Station, and so the vaccinators cultivated animal lymph in their
respective circles. The lymph so cultivated was used in vaccination and was
found to give excellent results.

The total number of operations performed by animal lymph was only 12,403.
The Civil Surgeon says that this number might have been somewhat increased,
had there been a greater willingness on the part of the Gowlies to supply buffalo
calves and greater zeal on the part of the vaccinators.

The total number of operations performed both in the Khalsa and Feudatory
States was 86,257, of which 2,455 were performed by Civil Hospital Assistants.

and found 95 per cent. successfully vaccinated.
