Method adopted for the
preservation of lymph in the
various districts of the Pro-
vince.
41. The following is a summary of the method
adopted in each district for the preservation of a supply
of lymph:—
Saugor.— Lymph was preserved during the non-working season by arm-to-
arm vaccination and by buffalo calf retro-vaccination, and at the commencement
of the season distributed to Vaccinators and Hospital Assistants.
Damoh.—Lanoline paste was prepared at head-quarters by the Native Super-
intendent and distributed to Vaccinators and Hospital Assistants.
Jubbulpore.—Lanoline paste was prepared at the Victoria Hospital, under the
supervision of Assistant Surgeon S. N. Barat, Rai Bahadur, and distributed to
Vaccinators and Hospital Assistants from time to time.
Narsinghpur.—Lymph was kept up throughout the non-working season from
buffalo calves. In the latter part of September, buffalo calves were vaccinated
under the supervision of the Civil Surgeon and the lymph thus obtained was dis-
tributed to Vaccinators, who maintained the supply throughout the year.
Hoshangabad.—In the month of June, when the supply of lymph appeared
to be deteriorating, a fresh supply was received from Sehore, in the Bhopal State,
and vaccination continued till the cold weather. On the 1st October, a supply
was distributed to Vaccinators and from this local supplies were started. No
lanoline paste was received from outside.
