"The total expenditure during the year was Rs. 19,533-10-8

"12 vaccinators, 7 private students, 5 teachers, 2 Sanitary
Inspectors and 6 Assistant Superintendents of Vaccination, i.e.,
32 in all, were trained during the year and given certificates of
efficiency after examination. The training class was conducted
by the Assistant Superintendent.

"Magic lantern lectures on all epidemic diseases were given
to the classes by Dr. R. K. Mehta, Health Publicity Officer.

"This year there is a profit to the Institute of Rs. 3,488."

21. Inspection of vaccination. Statement V.—

The inspection work performed by Civil Surgeons
in 1926-27 and 1927-28 has already been commented
on in the notes for these years. During the year
1928-29, 10.45 per cent of the primary and 5.47 of the
revaccinations were inspected against 9.15 and 5.27 in
1927-28 and 8.55 and 4.30 in 1926-27. The Civil Surgeon,
Drug, was out on tour for 71 days and inspected vaccina-
tion work of as many as 586 villages. The Civil Surgeons
of Mandla, Chhindwara and Chanda also devoted more
than 40 days and this approximates to the prescribed
period of vaccination tour, viz., six weeks. In Nagpur,
Jubbulpore, Amraoti and Raipur, the Civil Surgeons have
not been able to spend sufficient days on tour owing to
work at headquarters. The touring done by the Civil
Surgeons Yeotmal, Buldana,Saugor and Hoshangabad is
very inadequate. The need for more effective supervision
