NOTE —(1) Dr. Calvert left Mymensingh on the 10th February 1897, and after this no inspections were made—his successors
                  were unable to leave the station.

(2)  As there are 15 dispensaries in Midnapore, the Civil Surgeon could not attend to vaccination work or inspecting all
                  these dispensaries.

(3)  No inspection was made by Surgeon-Major J. H. T. Walsh during the period from 14th October to 13th November
                  1896, during which he officiated as Civil Surgeon of Howrah.

The Civil Surgeon of Dacca, who stood second last year, now heads the
list with 13,626 inspections. He is closely followed by the Civil Surgeons
of Darbhanga and Backerganj with 13,581 and 13,228 inspections respec-
tively. Monghyr, which was fifth last year, has gained one step, and
Muzaffarpur, which was first, has come down to the fifth place this year, the
number of inspections falling from 13,997 to 9,954. Four Civil Surgeons
inspected more than 10,000 operations; thirteen inspected from 5,000 to 10,000;
28 from 1,000 to 5,000, and three below 1,000 cases. The Medical Officer in
charge of Chittagong Hill Tracts (Assistant Surgeon U. C. Das) and the Civil
